Mock Interviews

This year we've been doing a lot to help prepare those students (undergrads and grad students) who are going to be pursuing jobs in Student Affairs. We've started an organization on campus called Future Leaders in Student Affairs and it's been amazing to connect with student across campus who think they want to work on college and university campuses as a career. Over the past week, we held two sessions of Mock Interviews, where professionals from across campus came in and spent time "interviewing" our student candidates. We had an amazing turnout - 16 faculty/staff members were involved, 11 students got interview experience, and 33 total interviews took place!

Because our students have many different roles on campus, it was great to have a broad range of "recruiters" there to demonstrate what it's like to interview for different jobs. We had staff from Residence Life, New Student Programs, Student Rights and Responsibilities, the Rec Center, the University Programming Office, the Student Center, and Auxiliary Services who all gave their time to help out and provide their own expertise. Additionally, Dr. Saran Donahoo, Associate Professor of Educational Administration and Higher Education and Director of the College Student Personnel program, came out to lend her perspective on an academic interview. All in all, it was a great day that was made possible by collaboration and commitment from across campus!
