June Of The Month Winners...

SIU Residence Life has some great things going on, and we want to showcase some of our proud moments on our blog. We also hope people considering working in RA, graduate assistant, or full-time positions with our department will take a minute to learn more about the things we are doing. We are very excited to share some big news this month...we won two Regional Of The Month awards in June, as well as one NATIONAL Of The Month award! Here are a few highlights from our award-winning nominations.

Barbara "Basia" Wilas - NATIONAL Spotlight Of The Month

"Basia, Office Assistant for the Education and Outreach Office of University Housing, has been dedicated to her position and assisting the entire Education and Outreach team as much as possible throughout June. With daily responsibilities including answering phones,greeting guests, and managing scheduling, Basia’s time in the office is already filled with many responsibilities. However, throughout this month, Basia has gone above and beyond the call of duty to make sure she is assisting and developing projects which will have lasting impacts on the students and housing team here on campus."
  
Nelly Jane Chávez - Regional Residence Life Faculty/Staff Of The Month for GLACURH

"When it comes to exceeding expectations, Nelly Jane Chávez is a great example. Many in higher education avoid talking about "customer service" because it seems to conflict with the idea of challenging and developing others. However, there is a real value, in any educational setting, to listening to constituents and finding the best way to meet their needs. Nelly is a great example of someone who does this for all constituents: conference guests, students, other members of the Residence Life team, faculty and staff, etc."

Ashley Stegall - Regional Executive Board Member Of The Month for GLACURH

"Through developing others, assisting however possible, and leading a conference delegation, the month of June has been one in which Ashley has truly let her skills and abilities shine. With numerous positive results of her hard work, residents on campus of Southern Illinois University Carbondale are very lucky to have Ms. Ashley Stegall working to develop, enhance, and support the residential living experience all month long."
