National OTM Winners!

We are VERY excited to share that two of our recent Regional winners were awarded NATIONAL Of The Month awards!

McKenzie Whitaker, West Campus Assistant Hall Director and second-year graduate student in the College Student Personnel program here at SIU Carbondale, received the National OTM as Residence Life Faculty/Staff of the month of August.

"Ralph Waldo Emerson once noted 'Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.' Emerson’s thoughts are a fantastic way to embody McKenzie’s role-modeling throughout the month. As a returning graduate assistant,McKenzie came back to campus the first days of the month of August with an unmatched willingness and enthusiasm to assist her new coworkers." Travis Gibler, graduate advisor to the SIU Carbondale Residence Hall Association and first-year graduate student in the College Student Personnel program, was named the September 2012 Advisor Of The Month.

"Already finding a masterful balance between challenge and support for the leaders of the Residence Hall Association, Travis spent numerous hours working with the executive board. Conversations about diving into course work, balanced with insightful approaches to programming and advice for the executive board, Travis ensured each board member was developing a great understanding of their roles during the first two weeks of September."
