Meet the RAs! - Esther Kim

SIU Residence Life has some great things going on, and we want to showcase some of our proud moments on our blog. We also hope people considering working in RA, graduate assistant, or full-time positions with our department will take a minute to learn more about the things we are doing. As we recruit new Resident Assistants for the 2014-2015 year, we wanted to introduce a few of the talented individuals currently on our team. This profile features Esther Kim, RA in Schneider Hall.


1. What’s your name? Esther Kim

2. Where are you from? North Suburbs of Chicago, Vernon Hills

3. What’s your major? Social Work, minor psychology

4. What is the best program or event you've been to on campus? tie dying shirts outside in front of the Morris Library

5. What was the last book you read for fun? Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom

6. What is your favorite thing about being an RA? knowing that I am creating a safe environment for the residents and creating a relationship with the residents as I am looked up upon and respected by them.

7. How else are you involved at SIU (in addition to being an RA)? I'm part of Intervarsity, international Bible study, gymnastics club, psychology club, and SWSA (social work RSO)

8. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? hopefully married with a family and working

9. What is your favorite quote?

10. What do you do to unwind when you’re feeling stressed? work out at the Rec, listen to music, try to take a nap, or go for a walk outside and get some fresh air.
